Mike Rose - Formerly Teaching Law and Society at Miramonte High School
A former resident of Moraga and Orinda in the San Francisco Bay Area, Michael “Mike” Rose was a teacher at Miramonte High School. Working within the Acalanes Union High School District, Mike Rose developed a curriculum at Miramonte that included law and society. As a teacher, he emphasized creative ways of helping students attain academic success while preparing them to excel in college and their chosen professions.
One of Mr. Rose’s major areas of focus at Miramonte was establishing and mentoring a model UN team that competed in events such as the Contra Costa County Model United Nations Conference. Under his coaching, the teamed attained the Outstanding Small Delegation Crystal Gavel Award at the 27th annual running of the event. As a top 20 internationally ranked team, the students also took part in conferences on the international stage.
From 1994 to 2010, Mr. Rose oversaw a Redwood City capital group that managed funds on behalf of physicians. As principal and chief financial officer, he managed a $6 million budget and handled expenditures, investment, and payroll.
